Abstract: Towards the end of the 19th century, people realized that classical mechanics, the accepted science of the day, gave an incorrect description of the physical world. Quantum mechanics, the 20th-century theory that replaced classical mechanics, does give an accurate picture of the microscopic world, but it is an amazingly strange and highly abstract theory. This talk will compare and contrast these two theories.
(The talk will be completely nontechnical!)
